Warradarge Wind Farm Stage 2 Expansion Project

At the end of 2024 an exciting milestone was achieved in WA’s renewable energy journey, with the Stage 2 expansion project for the Warradarge Wind Farm receiving approval to proceed from the Bright Energy Investment’s Board of Directors.

Warradarge Wind Farm is an existing Bright Energy Investment facility located approximately 260km north of Perth in the Shires of Coorow and Carnamah in the Mid West Region of Western Australia. Bright Energy Investments is a joint venture between Government-owned Synergy, Cbus Super and CVC DIF.

The expansion will contribute an additional 30 wind turbine generators (WTGs) to the wind farm which will increase the capacity to 283MW, making it the biggest wind farm in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

Construction on site for Stage 2 will begin in the second quarter of 2025, with the new turbines commissioning in late 2026.

International wind turbine manufacturer Vestas, under an EPC contract, will supply and construct the 30 additional WTGs. The same Vestas V136 - 3.6MW machines as used in the existing facility (currently 51 WTGs are installed) will be installed in the expansion. The new WTG’s will use the same 84m hub height, the same rotor diameter of 136m and same maximum blade tip height of 152m.

Vestas, also currently provides operations and maintenance (O&M) services at Warradarge and will continue to provide O&M services throughout the construction and ongoing operations of the wind farm.

SynergyRED, a wholly own subsidiary of Synergy, have supported Bright Energy Investments in the development of the Warradarge Wind Farm expansion project and will continue to provide asset management services for the completed wind farm. SynergyRED focuses on the development of utility scale renewable energy projects and providing renewable asset management services.

The growing Bright Energy Investments portfolio, which includes the Albany Grasmere Wind Farm and the Greenough River Solar Farm is continuing to support the renewable energy transition towards a more sustainable energy future.

Please note: Opportunities to supply goods and services under the Warradarge Wind Farm Expansion Project or to secure employment should be directed to the EPC contractor. Bright Energy Investments will not be engaging subcontractors, construction workers or operations staff as these functions will be provided by the EPC and O&M contractor. Contact details for the EPC contractor will be provided in the near future.
